GAMIFIED LEARNING design concept

This project presents a prototype for a gamified learning system that could apply to any content area. The idea of players moving through a maze appealed to me because it would allow cognitive downtime for students between periods of high cognitive load associated with learning complex topics and new terminology. The demo features a hypothetical computer science lesson to introduce terms like "bit" and "byte."

My high school teaching experience has taught me the power of collaborative learning, so although the game does accommodate a single-player experience, it is optimized when four students take on four different roles which complement each other and make the team more efficient. To balance this collaborative aspect with individual accountability, each participant completes the same formative assessments on their own before the team moves on.
